Pre-Order Information

Cancellations

You may cancel a pre-order up to two (2) weeks prior to the book’s official release date. To request a cancellation of your pre-order, please email: orders@literarylanebookshop.com.

Please note that payment is charged at the time the order is placed, not at the time of dispatch. If your cancellation request is received within the allowed timeframe, we will process a refund to your original payment method.

Address Changes

If you need to update the shipping address for a pre-order, you may do so up to two (2) weeks prior to the release date. All address change requests must be sent to: orders@literarylanebookshop.com.

Publisher Release & Fulfilment Disclaimer

For pre-ordered titles, please be aware that we may not always receive our stock from the publisher precisely on the official release date. Shipment to our Distribution Centre can take additional time, and we will begin fulfilling your orders as soon as the books arrive.

What if I order other items with a pre-order?

If you pre-order a book alongside other currently released books or goodies, we'll ship these items separately.

If you'd like all of your items to be held until the pre-order has released and be shipped in one, please contact us at orders@literarylanebookshop.com within 24 hours of purchase.

Can I change my address?

Unfortunately, we are unable to change the address for ready to ship books—you will need to cancel your order and repurchase.

For pre-orders, please get in touch via email at orders@literarylanebookshop.com at least two weeks prior to the advertised release date. We cannot guarantee that address change requests beyond this will be accommodated.

How long does processing and shipping take?

We aim to dispatch all books within 2-3 working days, and goodies within 10 working days.

We offer free UK delivery on orders over £75, sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48.

Royal Mail Tracked 24: Please allow 1-2 working days to receive your order once you have received your dispatch email, to account for any delays with Royal Mail that are outside of our control.

Royal Mail Tracked 48: Please allow 2-3 working days to receive your order once you have received your dispatch email, to account for any delays with Royal Mail that are outside of our control.

What should I do if my order hasn't arrived?

If the item hasn't been delivered by the due date plus 7 working days, please get in touch with us via email at info@literarylanebookshop.com and we can investigate this with Royal Mail.

Can I get a refund or exchange?

We hope you love every book you find with us, but if something’s not quite right or you've changed your mind, we’re here to help.

If you’d like to return an item, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order. Just send an email to returns@literarylanebookshop.com with your order number and reason for the return, and we’ll guide you through the next steps.

Once your return request is approved, you’ll have another 14 days to send the item back to us. Please make sure the item is in its original condition and packaging, just as you received it.

Please note that refunds are issued to the original payment method.

We’re a small, independent bookshop, so we’re not currently able to offer free returns. Return postage is at the customer’s expense, and we recommend using a tracked service to make sure your book gets back to us safely.

Exceptions & Notes

  • Items that are damaged due to misuse or not returned in their original condition may not be eligible for a full refund.
  • For any faulty or incorrect items, please reach out to us right away—we’ll make it right.
  • Digital items are non-returnable.

Damaged Books Criteria

If your item was received with damage, we will replace it with a new one. Our damaged books criteria is listed below.

We will offer an exchange or refund if your book arrives with any of the following:

  • Cut, torn or missing pages
  • Detached or loose binding
  • Water damage
  • Major stains and ink spills
  • Severe creasing, folding or bent covers from transit (over 20mm)
  • Unreadable print quality (blurred text, missing pages, or printing errors)

If any of these issues apply, please contact us by email within 14 days of delivery, with clear photos of the damage. We may also request that you return the damaged book to us before a replacement is issued.

A replacement will not be issued if the book shows:

  • Minor wear from shipping, such as small corner bends, light scuffs, or slight creases on the cover (20mm or less)
  • Printing imperfections that do not affect readability (e.g. slight misalignment, small ink spots)
  • Shelf wear (minor dulling or fading)

These are considered cosmetic imperfections and do not make the book defective.
